Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Shweta Khan alias Fultusi, accused in a case filed by a young woman from Sodpur, was produced in Howrah CJM Court on Friday. The court ordered her to be sent to police custody for eight days after hearing the case details. The complaint has been registered under serious sections based on the woman’s written allegations.
However, Fultusi’s lawyer told the court that the complainant had been voluntarily living with Aryan, one of the key persons in the case, at his residence in Bankara. He argued that the woman was neither confined nor forced and had accompanied Aryan’s family on trips to Digha, Shimla, Kullu, and Manali. Several travel photos were submitted as supporting evidence.
Despite the defense’s arguments, the police maintained that the written complaint and initial findings justified custodial interrogation. Investigations are ongoing to verify the full timeline and nature of the woman’s stay with Aryan’s family.
